Calendula is an herb that is known to be anti-inflammatory and skin healing. It works like NSAIDs at reducing the production of new inflammatory cells and has actually been shown to heal Achilles tendon tears. Our calendula creams have a 1:5 oil extract of calendula and a 1:5 alcoholic extract of calendula. It is a great product to not only moisturize dry skin but actually heal it as well. Calendula is also thought to be an antimicrobial herb. It contains resinous molecules that create a protective layer on the skin preventing damage and possible infection. Newer studies are also showing calendula to be helpful at healing tendon tears with topical application!
If you are looking to support dry, itchy skin, the peppermint scent is recommended. Unscented is recommended if you are concerned that you might have sensitive skin at all. If you generally experience an increase in symptoms with application of topical products, we recommend you consider a consultation prior to purchasing this product to determine if it is the best fit for you.
